The Spearfish girls' basketball team shut out Lead-Deadwood in the first period and pulled way from the Golddiggers 46-25 on Tuesday in Spearfish.

The Spartans led 7-0 at the end of the first period and 14-7 at halftime. Spearfish was still only up 27-18 after three before outscoring the Golddiggers 19-7 in the fourth.

Alexsis Kemp led Spearfish with 13 points, while Brooke Heairet added nine points.

Natalie Janssen paced Lead-Deadwood with 12 points.

Spearfish, 5-8, hosts Huron Friday, while Lead-Deadwood, 6-9, hosts Philip Saturday.

RAPID CITY STEVENS 67, DOUGLAS 42: The Raiders won their fifth straight game with the victory over the Patriots Tuesday.

No other results were made available.

Stevens, 13-2, hosts Rapid City Central Thursday, while Douglas, 3-11, hosts Belle Fourche Friday.

TIMBER LAKE 57, DUPREE 40: The Panthers led for much of the way in stopping the Tigers.

Loryn Schoelerman led Timber Lake with 14 points and Sydney Maher added 12.

Bailee Birkelend paced Dupree with nine points.

Timber Lake, 11-4, hosts Standing Rock, N.D., Monday, while Dupree, 8-8, hosts Takini on Monday.

Boys Basketball

SPEARFISH 66, LEAD-DEADWOOD 51: The Spartans scored 27 points in the opening period in stopping the Golddiggers.

Spearfish led 43-26 at halftime.

Brady Greger and Dawson Sundsted led the Spartans with 15 and 14 points respectability, with Greger also grabbing seven rebounds.

Jack Egemo led Lead-Deadwood with 13 points, followed by Chris Lipp with 11 and Jordy Stulken with 10.

Spearfish, 5-9, is at Huron on Friday, while Lead-Deadwood, 4-11, hosts Philip Saturday.

STANLEY COUNTY 58, TODD COUNTY 57: The Buffaloes rallied past the Falcons in the fourth quarter.

Todd County led 48-45 heading into the fourth.

Aiden Bizardie led Todd County with 19 points, followed by David Espinoza with 12 and Kaine Redfish with 10. No individual results were made available for Stanley County.

Todd County, 5-10, hosts Mobridge-Pollock Saturday, while Stanley County, 10-6, is at White River Feb. 8.

SULLY BUTTES 65, JONES COUNTY 29: The Chargers ran out to a 40-8 lead at halftime and never looked back.

Lincoln Jordre paced Stanley County with 16 points, followed by Nick Wittler and Jacob Howard with 14 points each and Cam Ogle with 11.

Austin Olson led Jones County with seven points.

Sully Buttes, 12-1, is at Potter County Friday, while Jones County, 8-6, faces Potter County on Saturday in the Highmore Classic.

TIMBER LAKE 63, DUPREE 28: The Panthers led 27-4 at the end of the first period and rolled past the Tigers.

Jackson Harrison led Timber Lake with, with Brayden Pay Pay adding 11.

Daycen Hunt and Floyd Traversie scored six points each for Dupree.

Timber Lake, 9-3, and Dupree, 4-10, begin Little Moreau Conference tournament play on Thursday.


STURGIS 56, DOUGLAS 12: The Scoopers won five of the eight matches wrestled, but picked up six forfeit victories.

Picking up wins for the Scoopers were Kelton Olson (106 pounds, 12-2 over Payton DeWitt), Shae Owens (126, 13-2 over Jackson Wilson), Justin Burnham (132, 7-2 over Devyn Swezy), Reece Jacobs (138, 7-2 over Isiah DuBray) and Clayton Smith (285, fall, 1:30 over Mason Finnsterwalder). 

Getting wins for Douglas were William George (113, 4-2 over Tristan Permann), Sherman Taber (120, fall over Zaven Osborne, 2:44) and Colton Jackson (145, 3-2 over Wren Jacobs).

The Scoopers return to action Thursday when they host Spearfish. Douglas is at the Yankton Invite on Saturday.
