On a hot, sweltering day at Floyd Fitzgerald Stadium, the Rapid City American Legion Post 22 Hardhats, got out to an early led and used strong pitching to make sure the home fans never had a doubt about who the better team was Sunday.
Post 22 shut out Scottsbluff, Neb. in six innings, earning a 10-0 win to move to 19-2 on the season.
Will Moore, Tommy Wahl and Zach Sumption combined to give up only four hits and strike out five batters, with Wahl pitching a perfect third and fourth. All three went for two innings each.
At the plate Zach Solano, Cooper Bowman, Carter Demming and Tod Stephens had multiple hits for Post 22, with Stephens connecting for a home run.
Bowman, Riley McSherry and Stephens all doubled in the game.
The Hardhats scored three quick runs in the bottom of the third inning, three more in the third inning, one in the fourth, two in the fifth and one more in the bottom of the sixth to send the fans home early.
Stephens led the way with three RBI but Bowman also had two, along with Holden Jackson and Connor King. Deming added an RBI of his own.
The Hardhats committed no errors to Scottsbluff's three.
Post 22 will have a few days off before hosting Pierre Post 8 Wednesday at Floyd Fitzgerald Stadium at 7 p.m. Following its midweek tilt with Post 8, Post 22 travels west to take on Premier West Colorado for a Saturday doubleheader and Sunday series.
