The Brookings Rangers girls' varsity hockey team completed a sweep over the Rushmore Thunder with a 6-2 win Sunday.

The Rangers topped the Thunder 7-0 Friday and 8-0 Saturday.

Georgianna Rowland scored the first goal for Rushmore to tie the game at one seven minutes and 57 seconds into the first period. The Thunder ended the period trailing 3-1.

Ella Aase scored the other Rushmore goal in the second period off assists from Shila Simpson and Darcy Paschke 9:29 into the second to make the score 5-2.

Brookings outshot Rushmore 56-23 Sunday, 55-12 Saturday, 50-18 Friday and 161-53 over the weekend. The losses ended a six game winning streak.

Thunder goalie Madyson Herman ended the weekend with 43 saves Friday, 47 saves Saturday and 50 Sunday for a three game total of 140.

Rushmore finishes the regular season 7-14-0-0 with 14 points and sixth in the standings.
