Despite the existence of the coronavirus pandemic, travelers are still searching for their next spring break vacation. These warm-weather destinations are gaining the most interest for travel in March and April of 2021, according to Expedia.
Cancun, Mexico

Cancun is looking as attractive in 2021 as it did in 2020. Cancun was the most-popular spring break destination in 2020. Americans visiting Cancun accumulated 13.4% of all spring break travel bookings during spring break 2020, according to Allianz Global Assistance.
Los Cabos, Mexico

Los Cabos is also holding on to its standing from a year ago. Behind Cancun, Los Cabos was the second-most popular spring break destination in 2020. Los Cabos accounted for 9.1% of spring break travel bookings in 2020, according to Allianz Global Assistance.
Orlando, Florida

Orlando was the most-popular domestic spring break destination in 2020, and it appears to be holding on to that standing for 2021 based on Expedia’s data. Orlando garnered 7.8% of American travel bookings for spring break 2020, according to Allianz Global Assistance.
Riviera Maya, Playa del Carmen and Tulum, Mexico

The popularity of the Riviera Maya/Playa del Carmen/Tulum region has carried over from the end of 2020 to 2021. More Americans visited these destinations in the Quintana Roo state during the 2020 holiday season than a year earlier, according to Quintana Roo Tourism Secretary Marisol Vanegas Perez. Nine out of 10 foreign tourists during the holiday season were American.
Isla Mujeres, Mexico

This island, also located in the Quintana Roo region, was among the top searches on Expedia leading up to spring break 2021. The region’s tourism recently took a hit as international arrivals into Quintana Roo declined 54.3% in November 2020 compared to the year prior, according to Mexico’s national statistics agency.
Las Vegas, Nevada

Americans traveling to Las Vegas for spring break accounted for 4.3% of bookings, according to Allianz Global Assistance in 2020, and Expedia expects it to be popular again in 2021 based on searches.
Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit, Mexico

There are plenty of people looking to escape to Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit in 2021, according to Expedia. Puerto Vallarta garnered 6.3% of American travel bookings for 2020 spring break, according to Allianz Global Assistance.
Miami, Florida

Searches for Miami ahead of spring break 2021 are hot, according to Expedia. More than 3% of Americans booked a trip to Miami for spring break in 2020, according to Allianz Global Assistance.
Maui, Hawaii

Maui is on people's minds for 2021, according to Expedia. The pandemic caused a decline in spring breakers traveling to Maui in 2020. Maui only welcomed about 113,000 domestic travelers during March and April of 2020 compared to roughly 430,000 spring break travelers in 2019, according to the Hawaii Tourism Authority.
Oahu, Hawaii

Maui isn’t the only Hawaiian island to make Expedia’s 2021 top-searched list. Americans are also interested in Oahu. Between March and April of 2020, more than 156,000 domestic travelers visited Oahu, according to the Hawaii Tourism Authority.
