The Chadron City Council unanimously approved accepting the easement from Nebraska Northwestern Railroad, and a related Memorandum of Understanding with the Northwest Nebraska Trails Association for development of the trail, in October, 2019. NNTA is working to obtain an engineering study for the trail before beginning to raise funds for the project. Last Friday, Nebraska Northwestern Railroad, Northwest Nebraska Trails Association (NNTA) and Chadron Mayor Miles Bannan signed an easement agreement for the development of 5 miles of rail-with-trail alongside an active corridor to extend the Cowboy Recreation and Nature Trail (Cowboy Trail) into Chadron.
