Led by Kacen Bach’s five hits in five at bats that drove in five runs, the Chadron Juniors won their second game of the season 12-8 while playing at Gering on June 24.
Bach wasn’t the only hot hitter, but he certainly led the way. The game featured 34 hits, 21 of them by the visitors.
The lead changed hands several times with Chadron jumping out to a 2-0 lead early when Steven Smith drove in a pair of runs. Gering was ahead 4-2 after two innings and was still on top 7-6 after four innings.
The Chadron team, sponsored by Platte Valley Bank, went ahead for good in the fifth when Kade Rasmussen and Kacen Bach each singled to drive in a run. Since it was just their second win, it was one the Juniors certainly cherished.
The Chadron Seniors also made the trip and played a game and a half. They initially finished a game that was begun in Chadron on June 2nd, but was suspended by rain after four innings with the home team leading 8-4.
