What is expected to be an outstanding Chadron High School football team will open its season Friday evening, Aug. 28 by hosting what is expected to be an excellent O’Neill High team. Kickoff will be at 5 o’clock. O’Neill fans should be advised to bring their sunglasses if they want to watch the first quarter.
Seniors will fill most of the starting positions for the Chadron Cardinals this fall after most of them also started last season when only one senior (Layne Davidson) was a full-time starter. Here’s a photo of 13 of this year’s 14 seniors. In front, from left, are Marcus Dunbar, Kole Carnahan, Jett Jelinek, Carson Long, Mason Frye and Aksel Lans. In the back are Jack O’Brien, Fletcher Stewart, Braden Wright, Bricen Wright, Brayden Linegar, Trae Owsley and Tobin Landen. Matt Lien is not in the photo because he was rodeoing when it was taken, but a photo of him making a solo tackle last fall was in last week’s newspaper.
