Torrington dominated the Juniors Wood Bat Tournament played at Maurice Horse Field in Chadron this past weekend.
Nicknamed the Tigers, the Wyoming team won all four of its games while outscoring its opponents 44-4. The scores, in order, were 8-0 vs, Gering, 14-1 vs. Chadron, 9-1 vs. Alliance and 13-2 vs. Sheridan County.
The other scores on Saturday were Sheridan County 11, Chadron 4; Alliance 14, Sheridan County 2; and Alliance 7, Gering 3. On Sunday, it was Alliance 9, Chadron 0, Gering 9, Sheridan County 6; and Gering 8, Chadron 0.

Chadron didn’t have many hits but KCSR radio reported that Kade Rassmussen and Steven Smith hit safely against Sheridan County on Saturday, that Theron Brown and Grady Gooder singled vs. Alliance on Sunday and noted that Haiven Catches had the only two hits against Gering in the tourney’s final game.

Now 25-7 for the season, the Torrington coach said Asher Mattis had 10 hits and Barrett Brew nine to pace his team at the plate during the weekend.
