Some interesting boys basketball was played in the Panhandle this past season. Maybe there was more balance than usual. While 12 of the 24 teams won more games than they lost, there were fewer teams with dominating records than usual.
Hay Springs senior Dylan Young averaged 20.3 points this past season and led the region with 44 blocked shots. He finished his career with 1,232 points.
Kyler Lusche of Kimball paced the Panhandle in both scoring and rebounding averages this season, and is the Longhorns’ all-time leading scorer with 1,498 points.
Although just a junior, Scottsbluff’s Nate Kelley has already scored 1.334 points and led the Panhandle two years in a row in free throw shooting and assists.
Shown driving to the basket, Crawford’s Taylor Homan was a junior this year and has already tallied 1,026 points, besides grabbing 22 rebounds to set the Rams’ single game record.
