Members of the Chadron State College football team posted some impressive statistics during their off-season workouts, improving in each of the three weightlifting categories by at least 5 percent from the previous year.
The Chadron State College football team will conclude its spring practices Saturday with its spring game. Head Coach Jay Long said the Eagles will take to Elliott Field at 10 a.m. and begin the game at about 11. The public is welcome to attend free of charge.
Winter weather forced the practices slated for last Friday and Saturday to be called off. That delayed the final scrimmage prior to the game until Tuesday afternoon. Long said the spring game will probably match the offense against the defense instead of dividing the roster into two units that would play both ways.
About 70 plays will be run, the coach said.
Long said the spring has been a good one.
“We had a good turnout, the effort has been good and the younger players have really learned. It’s been fun to watch their growth. A lot of them will be able to help us this fall.”
