For more than 100 years, Lidel has played a small but steady role in building the communities we call home. What started with Carl Lidel in Chester, South Dakota, grew into a family legacy carried on by his son, Merlin, and then his grandson, Craig. Today, Chris and Todd Lidel lead the company into its historic fourth generation, continuing a tradition of honest, careful work the company was built on.

Over the past century, Lidel has evolved with the industry while staying true to its roots. In 2021, the company expanded its capabilities with the acquisition of Kempf Construction, strengthening its expertise in underground utility installation and positioning the team to take on more complex infrastructure projects.
From large-scale excavation and underground utilities to full site development, Lidel’s work can be found across South Dakota and now, they are bringing that experience west.
