On Dec. 15, Sails and his classmates from South Dakota Barber College in Rapid City made Christmas merrier for families served by Youth & Family Services. The students secured about $7,300 in donations of cash, gift cards and services (car care services, meals, recreational activities) from more than two dozen local businesses, and items including a double stroller and Strider bikes. Some of the cash was used to purchase winter gloves, shoes, diapers, wipes, cooking and cleaning supplies and other gift items for families. Some cash will help YFS families pay bills such as child care, utilities and groceries and purchase items for Christmas dinner. Community donations help YFS and other nonprofits in the Black Hills support people and animals in need throughout the year.
