HOT SPRINGS- The United Churches in Hot Springs have a new pastor. Reverend Doctor David Cook is now leading the congregation.
Originally from San Diego, California, Cook has served as a pastor in Pennsylvania, New York and most recently Missouri near the Lake of the Ozarks.
United Churches is a federated church with congregants from three protestant denominations; Baptist, Methodist and Presbyterian.
Before coming to Hot Springs, Cook was a Presbyterian pastor. This will be Cook's first time leading a federated church, and he said he is excited for the experience.

Prior to becoming a pastor and while living in San Diego, he and his wife Bernice attended a large Methodist church. Later in life while in Mississippi they were involved in a Baptist church.
"We've been a part of each tradition here," said Cook, "I understand the strengths of each denomination."
Cook said he had never been to the Hills before taking his new position. "We are very excited to be here," he said, adding that when he first drove into Hot Springs, he was struck by the beauty of the surrounding landscape.
Outside of work, Pastor Cooks said he enjoys golfing, painting, genealogy and teaching.
