HOT SPRINGS- The Southern Hills Community Theatre will put on their summer show "SideQuests, the Princess and the Peasant" starting this week.

The original play, written and directed by Justin Gausman of Hot Springs will be performed at the Mueller Civic Center June 20-22 and June 27-29 at 7:00 p.m.

"SideQuests" is a family-friendly comedy follows multiple characters, including: a peasant who doesn't want to be a hero, a runaway princess and a young woman learning what makes a good story.

Gausman said he challenged himself to write a plot which stepped outside of traditional story arcs. He added that the characters might not be who the audience thinks they are, "In the end there is a twist that will shock everyone."

This is Gausman's third play he's written for SHCT, the first, "A Christmas Heist", was performed in 2015 and the second, "I sent my Grandma into the Past" was performed in 2017.

The cast includes 28 people which is SHCT's largest cast to date. With the crew included over 40 people are working to put on the performance.

Cast members have a wide range of experience. For some it is their first experience acting, others, like Zach Cox, have been in many SHCT productions.

Tom Powers, who's generally been on stage acting in the past, is working as an assistant director for this production.
