HOT SPRINGS - The public is invited to participate - on foot, horseback or by any means possible - in a "Veterans Welcome Home Ride to the VA" from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25 in Hot Springs.
The event is a joint effort by Veterans, for Veterans, to halt the proposed closing of the Hot Springs VA facility. A large group of veterans, made up of several Native American Tribes, will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with local veterans and civilians to show they care and support the continuation of services at the Hot Springs VA.
The day will kickoff at 9 a.m. with a brunch served at the Hot Springs American Legion followed by a traditional Native American Dance and Drummers at 11 a.m. and then lunch at 11:30 a.m. A parade line-up will commence, starting on Garden Street from the Dairy Queen back to the American Legion at Noon.
Beginning at 1 p.m., parade participants will make their way from Dairy Queen to the VA by crossing Hwy. 385 to 5th Street.
