The Black Hills State University women's soccer team stepped outside of conference play on Sunday afternoon, earning a decisive 5-0 victory over Dakota State on senior day at the Black Hills Power Sports Complex. The Yellow Jackets scored a program record 17 points in the match with five goals and seven assists, as the five goals were second-most in school history while the seven assists were the most in team history. Among the five goals, all of which occurred in the first half, two came from Kalissa Weich as she notched the sixth multi-goal performance of the year, and Kylea Becker, the lone senior on the team, scored her first career goal as a Yellow Jacket.
- A quick start set the tone for the best scoring performance in program history on Sunday morning, as Ally Boysen tallied her 12th goal of the season as she capitalized on the assists of Samantha Nunez and Ivy Agee as she took Agee's pass at the top of the box, moved past a diving Dakota State goalkeeper, Ivey Winckler, and placed the ball into the open net uncontested from only a few yards out in the 12th minute.
- The lone player to be recognized prior to the match on senior day, Kylea Becker capitalized on her moment as she scored her first career goal as a Yellow Jacket in the 20th minute to give the Green & Gold a 2-0 advantage. As the Trojans looked to move the ball forward up the sideline, Becker took the ball away, worked her way back into the center of the field and fired a left-footed shot into the upper left corner of the net from the top of the box.
- Just a minute and a half later in the 22nd minute, BHSU tallied a third goal, this time as Sydney Stephen passed the ball out of the corner and up to the top left corner of the box where Sienna Osborne sent the ball into the upper left corner of the net for her first goal of her collegiate career, making it a 3-0 game.
- Kalissa Weich found the back of the net in the 27th and 40th minutes as Black Hills State jumped out to a 5-0 advantage at the halftime break, tying the mark for the most goals in a single half in program history. Weich first scored as Ellie Talich sent the ball down the field, allowing for Stephan to outrace the defense to gain control of the ball and pass the ball over to Weich at the last second as Winckler made a diving attempt to stop the ball and Weich placed the ball into the center of the empty net. Then another strong display of passing saw Parker Treide and Holly Benson move the ball up the field and through the Trojan defense as Benson's final pass split a pair of defenders through the box and Weich sent the ball into the right corner of the net from the left side of the box to give BHSU the 5-0 advantage.
- Dakota State's lone scoring opportunity of the first half saw Madison Smalley fire a shot from approximately 30 yards out bounce off the top woodwork and over the goal in the 42nd minute. In the opening half, the Yellow Jackets outshot the Trojans 11-1 overall and 7-0 in shots on frame.
- Black Hills State again controlled the attack in the second half; despite not finding the back of the net, they outshot their East River foes 11-3 overall and 6-1 in shots on goal. While controlling the attack, Becker started the final 45 minutes with the first pair of shots on frame in the 54th and 63rd minutes, while Treide placed a shot on target in the 69th minute and Peyton Hill did so in the 80th minute. Weich looked to score for the third time in the match-up with shots on goal in the 84th and 87th minutes.
- The lone save of the match for a Black Hills State goalkeeper occurred when Karsyn Fraser-Slothower made a diving save in the center of the net from Smalley at the top of the box in the 74th minute as Smalley stole the ball away on an errant pass.
- Black Hills State held the advantage in shots (22-4), shots on goal (13-1), and corner kicks (2-1), while Dakota State held the edge in saves (8-1).
